ARADHANA OF SHRI SHRI RAGOOTHMA THEERTHA (1537-1595)

Swamiji’s aradhana falls on pushya suddha EKADHASI day. On this day in the year 1595, the Swamiji entered Brindhavana. Every year aradhana is being celebrated on Dasami, EKADASI, Dwadhasi and Thrayodhasi days.

Shri Shri Ragoothama Theerthar is none other than the embodiment of niruthi, the South-West-Dik-Paalaka. In threythayuga, he took the manifestation of a monkey-known as dumuki – who gave a lot of troubles to kumbakama. In Dwapara Yuga, he took the manifestation of Gadothgajan, the son of Bheema and Idumbi and sacrificed his life for the sake of Arjuna In kaliyuga, he came to be known as Bhavabodhakaru-who wrote illuminating commentaries on the works of Sri Vehavyasa and Sri Madhvacharay on Dwaitha philosophy and thus rendered a great service to Hari.

His Aaradhana falls in winter season. Bearing severe cold, the devotees do their services to the Swamiji in an exemplary manner.

During Dasami day, the present pontiff Shri Shri Sathyaathma theertha performs abishekams to Gururajars and Shri Moola Rama in a grand manner. Brahmana feeding cannot be reckoned. The devotees from all over the world attend the aradhana.

The day belonging to “HARI” – VIZ – EKADASI day is an important one. Many devotees, after having a bath in DAKSHINA PINAKINI RIVER, after bearing Gopi Chandana marks and wearing wreath of holy Thulasi leaves and the traditional dress, begin to go round the Brindhavana many a time with empty stomach. They undertake complete fast on that day and do service to Guru according to their might such as reciting Sthothras, singing Dasara palhagalu, Purchasing pooja articles in the shops located in the premises of the mutt, making arrangements for the panchamrutha Abisheka to be performed the following day i.e.. Dwadasi day etc.

During evening. The district Madhwa Sangha members arrange various tests to the youngsters, in which Sri Sri Sathyathma Theerthar participates and gives away prizes to the winners. It is a grand scene to be seen by worthy eyes.

Bearing the heavy snow falls during the night of EKADHASI, the devotees pay their attention to the various religious programme being conducted in the premised throughout the night. The shiver during that night can be compared equallant to that of BADRINATH.

Sri Sri Sathyathma Theerthar would deliver discourses on various subjects during night. Then, Disarms would recite song viz “Purandaropanishad” with various musical instruments such as veena, violin, flute, Mirudhangam, Ganjira, Tabela, and Muharsing etc. Many efficient scholars in the field of music would participate in the function which they treat as a blessing by the Guru. The Flute recital between. 2.30 AM and 3.30 AM would take us to all parts of the divine path. At the Same time the decoration to Brindhavan with flowers would be done which will be worth seeing by all. Exactly at 4.30 A.m. The present pontiff will do abishekam (milk, curd, Honey, Ghee, coconut, Plan-tain, grape, Cashewnut, date, orange, strawberry, pine apple, apple, jaggary powder etc.) and submit the gar lands of flowers, apple, cloves the prasadhams to all parts of the Brindhavan which will be accepted by the standing devotees Those who get the prasaham think themselves as blessed sould. During abishekam, the Bhajans by Haridasars, the sound of dancing desars, mirudhangam doing etc. Will take us to the heaven. ABISHEKAM will come to an end, when the sun rises. After that feeding to the eminent scholors will be done. Sick people both physically and mentally will rotate themselves in the plantain leaves in which the scholars took their meals which they believe would cure all diseases. Then the Swamiji will perform mudharadhana to devotees. After feeding, the devotees will have dharshan of the Swamiji; get sacred rich from Swamiji, prasadhmas from the counter and leave for their respective places.

During the night DWADHASI, (4.p.mto7p.m) there will be special Bhajans in the premises of shri shri Ragavendhra swamy mrithika brindhawan situated on the northem side of the temple tank in Tirukkoilur town. The devotees can participate in this function and have a pleasant time.

During “TRAYODHASI” day special panchamrutha Abishekam will be performed to Shri Shri Ragoothmatheethar. The idol of Shri Shri Ragoothama Theerthar will be kept in the mutt CHARIOT which will be taken round the mutt premises followed with grand Bhajans. This is worth seeing.

Only the divine eyes are necessary to witness the 3 days aradhana, Annadhana, Bhajans etc. and to see the Divine souls.
