Sri Satyapramoda Tirtha was an epoch making Swami of
Uttaradi Mutt. He was born as Guttal Gururajacharya. HIs father was a Scholar.
HIs early education was at Haveri, & Udupi at Sri Padumannou
Narayanacharya's (Father of Bannanje Govindacharya & tippanikara for Sanyayavivaranam)
Gurukulam, Ambalapadi, and Udupi. He has a strong foundation there, and
continued his studies near Sri Satyadhyana Tirtha Sawmiji of Uttaradi
Mutt.
His contribution to improvement of Uttaradi Mutt & Shastra
Learning was tremendous. He started Satyadhyana Gurukulam under his father in
law Sri Mohali Gopalacharya a great Scholar.
His Ashram Guru was Satyabhijna Tirtharu & he was one
amongst few Sanyasis who rules UM, literally for over 50 years. Others ruled
for 2-3 years, except a few.
Sri Swamiji was a great debater scholar & writer and
orator in Madhwa Philosophy. Though he did not agree Rijutva for Sri Vadirajaru
he taught his Granthas mainly Yuktimallika, which he commented in beautiful
language.
He liked Scholars mainly of North Karnataka &
promoted them. He was a genius of undoubted caliber in Tarka, Vyakarana &
Mimamsa& nyaya. He conducted Vidvat Sabhas annually. His Nyayasudha Mandan
am, in support of NS is a work of great scholarship.
He was known for his short tempered behavior, the Victims
of his anger were non- north Karnataka Students & Scholars too. His
disciples were afraid of him. He used to shout at Pooja time if something was
delayed.
He toured around India, collecting Books on Madhwa Philosophy
& Shalagravas, for 20 years. He was well known for ounishing his shishyas
by Bahiskara, including my father for small reasons best known to him. He had
appointed Archaks & purohits in Towns as Mathadhikaris, who knew nothing,
not even Manimanjari, or Rama Shabdam.
He preferred to be interred near Raghootama Tirtha
Brindavan at Tirukoyilooru.

Many mistakes are there. Shri Gopalacharya was not father-in-law of Sri Satya pramoda Tirtha. He is father-in-law of Sri Guttal Rangacharya, son of Sri Satya Pramoda Tirtha.
